Enviro-Air was contracted to remediate several different locations at a former Manufactured Gas Plant and demolish an industrial building.
Once the building was demolished, approximately 5,000 tons of MGP impacted soil from a gas holder were excavated, transported and disposed of.
Remediation continued in a wetlands area. Enviro-Air installed a temporary Aqua Dam and dewatered the area. A cement-based reagent was utilized to successfully perform in-situ stabilization (ISS) on 6,200 cubic yards of MGP impacted sediment. When the ISS work was completed, gabions and reno mattresses were installed around the perimeter of the stabilized area. More than 26,000 square feet of area was restored and over 1,000 wetlands plants were planted.
A third phase of this project was the excavation of a gas holder foundation and impacted soil in the rear parking lot of a supermarket. Site activities were carefully coordinated so as to cause the least amount of disruption as possible to the supermarket operations.
